There's a baddie in every fairy tale, but have you ever wondered what it's like to play the villain?

Song for Hags

She often wondered why she had
been destined to become a hag.
It wasn't the future she'd carefully planned,
she wanted a young prince to win her hand.

But all the warts had sealed her fate,
so in the woods she would quietly wait.
Brewing up potions of the highest fashion
mixed with slime and magic and passion.

Without hags there would be no story
but when do they get their share of glory?
She'd been given the villain's part
even though she was good at heart.

She locked silly girls up in her tower
to prove that hags have all the power.
Years and years of hocus pocus,
but was she ever the readers' focus?

They wanted stories of studs and tarts
and little mermaids with broken hearts
of wedding bells and happy ever after
sometimes tears but mostly laughter.

And who were they always laughing at?
The silly old hag in the pointed hat!
Although she knew she would never win,
did you ever see a witch give in.

And it made her bloody sick
to see some stupid little prick
with his orange sun-bed tan
messing up her life-long plan.

Just for once she'd like to win,
was her wish such a sin?
But fairy tales don't end that way,
so in the woods she had to stay.
